Mama, 2.
Mama came home from work to a Kitchen table with 2 cans of Coke, a Pizza and some Cheesy Bread. Not exactly her favorite food to eat. Despite having explained to her that Domino’s Pizza was the only place I could think of that took Debit upon delivery, Mama scolded me. I had bought us a supper that cost $35.90; and that was just way too much money for Mama.
Sometimes having Supper and...

Proof
I’m not sure if you knew this but:
On Thursday, January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament proclaimed:
“A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.
This day isn’t just another statutory holiday with pay. It’s a government sanctioned holiday to thank our God.

[Drafts 2010] Pastoral Concerns.
I can remember many moments when the term “Pastoral Concerns” became a joke. We laughed. Especially when someone liked someone in the community. A “Pastoral Concern!” is shouted on cue. Instantly follows an uproar of people laughing. It’s the day when in some way, we all began to suck at “Loving Correction”.
Pastoral Concerns are Real. It’s not all about talking structure. Who’s going to lead...

Redemptoris Mater (Mother of the Redeemer)
On the Blessed Virgin Mary in the life of the Pilgrim Church Ioannes Paulus PP. II 1987.03.25 …As she goes forward with the whole of humanity towards the frontier between the two Millennia, the Church, for her part, with the whole community of believers and in union with all men and women of good will, takes up the great challenge contained in these words of the Marian antiphon: “the...

Take a good look around you
None of that stuff is going to heaven. You’re not going to be able to take any of it. Any people you see? They might be there, and it might partly depend on you.
Quickest/easiest way to change perspective on “life” and “today” that I know of.

Accountability in the Eyes of Christ
“Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, for we are members one of another.” —Ephesians 4:25
We are all accountable for what we say and do. We are all ultimately accountable to God, and we should always remember to act accordingly. We are however also accountable to each other, to one another as fellow believers, holding fellow believers and...

My Church Father
After seeing his jovial face and listening to his close-eyed sermons for 12 years, I serendipitously attended Father Patrick’s last Sunday mass at St. Bernadette Parish with the rest of the Core during SHOUT. I wasn’t even aware of the occasion until he quickly said so right before his “thank you” speech and the final blessing.
Gotta admit, my heart ached during the final...

My strength is made perfect in weakness
2 Corinthians 11: 30
“If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.”
Psalm 34: 2-3
“My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.”

I haven’t had much time to reflect and write amidst the business of being a pseudo-parent, but one thing is for sure:
Thank God for morning mass.
I’m different when I start my day with such a frank reminder that God’s Grace never fails and is always with me, and that I can confess, have communion, and adore in His presence before my day even begins. It’s the one thing...

Words
A different, yet vital perspective. Sans the swearing.
When someone steps forward and says, “Your usage of this word is hurtful and you need to examine your speech,” the correct path here would be to examine your speech, not to continue railing against them because you can’t accept the fact that maybe, just maybe, you are wrong.
I know it’s hard to be wrong. It’s hard to swallow your pride and...

36. You're allowed to change your friends.
(via hellodaughter)
Everyone inevitably grows up and grows into themselves as they get older. You aren’t the same person you were at 15 as when you’re 25. As you grow up, who you’re friends with at each point in your life is allowed to change - and you don’t have to feel guilty about that. Pick good people to be your friends.
No Longer Concealed
A piece from claypotsandpoetry that I feel is so relevant due to recent events.
Don’t fear the truth.
No Longer Concealed
When we’re faced with Truth, we have no other response but to come out from our hiding place. There would be no compulsion to lie or deceive because nothing can be kept hidden in the Light. The slightest effort to turn away from what brings us to conviction will be in...

Day 40: Reinforce
While my digital transcription of my Lenten journey failed, suffice to say that there was a lot experienced.
I realized (sometimes the hard way) what was vital in my life and what was holding me back from fullness. Fasting and sacrifice, while opening me up to the harshness of temptation and the empty promises of earthly gratification, also strengthened my resolve and helped me starkly...
